Crate LM King Of The Ring Plus Power Wheels Races At Woodhull
Story By: STEVEN OVENS / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Two great events return to Woodhull Raceway on Saturday night as Troups Creek Auto Parts presents the annual Crate Late Model King of the Ring as well as the second race of 2017 for the youngsters aboard their Power Wheels vehicles.
Troups Creek Auto Parts is located on State Route 36 in Troupsburg, NY and have been a loyal track sponsor for many years. The Troups Creek Auto Parts Crate Late Models driven by two-time feature winner and 2017 point leader Steve LeBarron and three-time winner John Waters will be ones to watch on Saturday night. They finished one-two last weekend with LeBarron getting a victory that extended his point lead.
The Crate Late Model King of the Ring format is pretty simple. Drivers will draw for head-to-head pairings, as they will race in two-lap ‘knockout style’ match races. The winner from each pairing will move on until a King of the Ring has been crowned.
The youth Power Wheels races will return for their second of three big dates on the schedule this Saturday night. Age groups 5 and under & 6 through 10 will compete in mini races on the frontstretch of the track during intermission. Power Wheels racers can be staged at the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Junior Fan Booth for safe keeping while the heats are on the track.
There are also only two weeks left to donate your non-perishable items to ‘cast your votes’ in the Little Miss/Little Mister Woodhull competition. Contestants will have their ballot bins and posters on display at the Junior Fan Booth on Saturday night, where fans can vote with their donations. Little Miss/Mister Woodhull will be crowned next weekend during the fireworks program on June 24.
Also on the racing card for Saturday night will be the Insinger Performance 370 Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, SWL Awards & Photos Crate Late Models, Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks, Daughtery’s Auto Sales & Service Mini Stocks, Woodhull Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives, Daugherty’s Auto Sales & Service Warriors and Hobby Stocks.
Fans can find their way into the grandstands Saturday at 4:30 for only $11 for adults 13 and up. Seniors 65+ and ages 8-12 will be $6. Children 7 and under are always free at Woodhull Raceway. Pit passes have been set at $25.
Our weekly Early Bird Special runs from 4:30-5:30 and offers $1 off general admission. Woodhull Raceway offers plenty of space for free camping on site. The green flag for the first set of heat races will be dropped by Scott Lyon at 6:30.
