Accident Hinders Chad Pierce’s Run At Good Finish Saturday
Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / CP RACING – EAGLE BRIDGE, NY – One week removed for his first feature win of 2017, Eagle Bridge, NY’s Chad Pierce fought all night long Saturday evening at Lebanon Valley, but in the end came away with a 17th place finish.
Pierce and his H. Sausville Construction, Walt’s Service Center #83 started the 358-Modified feature in 18th position and were moving their way forward through the field. That was, until they were involved in an accident off of turn four that collected a number of cars.
“Someone up front lost control of their car, or their car quit or something,” he said. “All I know is everyone went scattering. I slowed up and got tagged from behind. Nothing you can do.”
That forced the former Lebanon Valley track champion to the rear of the field for the restart. Over the rest of the 24-lap feature, Pierce did what he could to stay out of trouble, as he knew the car wasn’t handling quite right. Something was wrong.
“Our car wasn’t as good as it was last week,” Pierce said. “We couldn’t get it to rotate the way we wanted it to. We’ll go to work and get that figured out for this coming week.”
Chad currently sits 11th in Small Block Modified points at the speedway, just four behind 10th place Timothy Davis.
The next event on the CP Racing Team’s schedule will be Saturday night at the “Valley of Speed” when Key Bank and the Flach family present another great night of action. Gates open at 5pm.
