Granite State Pro Stocks Headed Back To Their Roots

Story By: MIKE PARKS / GRANITE STATE PRO STOCK SERIES – WALPOLE, NH – On the heels of his first career Granite State Pro Stock Series victory at Riverhead Raceway on May 20, Mike Mitchell is leading the series into action this Friday night at Claremont Speedway. A 100 lap, $2,000 to win feature event will showcase some of the top Northeast Super Late Model talent on the very track where the series began back in 2011.

The third-mile provided fans with one of the most memorable series events in 2016, when Jeremy Davis, Derek Griffith and DJ Shaw battled right to the finish, with Davis coming out on top at the checkered flag.

Entries for Friday night’s main event have been coming in for weeks and there will plenty of championship contenders hoping to keep steering in the right direction. Defending series champion Barry Gray is joined by Cory Casagrande, Nick Lascuola, Mitchell and Devin O’Connell, among others.

Names like Mike and Tommy O’Sullivan, Bryon Baker, Jeremy Davis, Luke Hinckley, Wyatt Alexander and Guy Caron have also filed their entry for Friday’s 100 lap feature race. Davis won the season-opening event at Lee USA Speedway back in late April.

“Claremont Speedway is a special place for the GSPSS because it is where our series began back in 2011,” president Mike Parks said. “It’s like our home. The track always puts on a great race and there are two solid lanes. We look forward to heading there.”

This event will be a one-day race, with practice, qualifying and feature action all happening on Friday night. GSPSS headlines a night of racing that will also include the Super Streets, Limited Sportsman and Wildcats.

Admission to the front gate is just $10.00 for any fans. Pits open at 3 p.m., with practice at 5 p.m. and qualifying races set to begin at 7 p.m. The feature for the Granite State Pro Stock Series will be the final race of the night, scheduled for 100 laps.

In the unfortunate event of inclement weather on Friday, series officials will speak with track staff and make an announcement as soon as possible. IF for any reason the race is postponed, it will be run Saturday evening under the same event schedule.
