Star Ready To Roll With The Season Opener This Weekend

Column By: MATTHEW WIERNASZ / RPW – EPPING, NH – With mother nature having a plan of her own for this weekend to bring a Noreaster and bring on some heavy rain. Bobby Webber will still have his season opener on Saturday at Star Speedway. Webber announced on Thursday afternoon believes that all signs are pointing that the rain will come later in the evening and that he will move everything up to get the program in on Saturday.

The season opener will feature an action packed program 50 Legs 150 Pro All Star Series North Super Late Models will be on hand. The NEMA Midgets will also have their season opener along with the NEMA Lites and the Star Speedway divisions.

“We are working hard to organize the most time efficient show as possible for Saturday. Heats will start at 3:30 with the goal being to get features on track shortly after 5 PM and wrapped up before the rain hits us. Get out to Star this Saturday for a huge show,” said Webber.

There will be a practice on Friday featuring PASS and the Star Speedway divisions.

Some of the drivers that have entered this weekend for the PASS race are Ben Rowe, Travis Benjamin, Derek Griffith, Tracy Gordon, D.J. Shaw, Johnny Clark, as well as hometown favorite Joey Squeglia.

The 350 Supermodified division at Star Speedway will grow heading into the 2017 season. A lot of rookies in the division but have a lot of experience include Windham, ME drivers Bobby Timmons and Brad Babb as well as Joey Payne’s son Anthony.

The Pits will open at 11 A.M. Heats to start at 3:30 with features starting shortly after 5:00 PM.
