Rain Washes Out Albany-Saratoga Friday Night
Story By: MATT KEITH / ALBANY-SARATOGA SPEEDWAY – MALTA, NY – Mother Nature became the first repeat winner in the 2017 season at Albany-Saratoga Speedway. An all-day rain forced track officials to postpone the night’s program until the following week.
“Mother Nature has not been our side so far this season” said promoter Lyle DeVore. “We will just pick up and go for next Friday night.”
The schedule for Friday May 12 will remain the same with this week’s “Outlaw 200” Fulton qualifier for the Modified division added to the card, along with the Sowle Trailer Repair (STR) Sportsman series.
Also on the May 12 card will be the “Hoosier Mama” Mother’s Day Special, the Mohawk Vintage Mods and all weekly divisions in action. The Empire Lightning Sprints will not be rescheduled.
The Sowle Trailer Repair (STR) Sportsman Series is comprised of eight features throughout the 2017 season, each paying $1,000 to win. The series is sponsored by Sowle Trailer Repair, a season sponsor of Albany-Saratoga Speedway. Drivers are reminded to check the track web page for STR Series requirements.
In addition to the event already held on April 28, the remaining STR Sportsman Series events are scheduled for May 12, May 19, June 2, July 7, July 14 “Summer Showdown”, July 21, August 4, August 25, and concluding on September 1. STR will also sponsor the September 8 “Pro Stock Showdown” paying $2,500 to win.
Pit gates will open on Friday at 4 p.m. and the grandstand gate will open at 5 p.m.
