Outlaws Sprints To Hold Exhibition At Fonda Saturday
Story By: RYAN HILL/ OUTLAW MIDGETS – FONDA, NY – Friday was supposed to be race number two for the Outlaw Midgets, but with Glen Ridge cancelling their racing program due to rain, the Outlaw Midgets seized the opportunity to promote their exciting brand of racing.
On Saturday May 27th the Lucas Oil POWRi Midgets will run exhibition laps at Fonda Speedway. The cars will be displayed on the front stretch, and the cars and drivers will be available to fans, drivers, and anybody interested in learning about the series, and some of their exciting plans for the 2017 season.
The series runs every other week at Glen Ridge, with stops at Accord Speedway, and Devils Bowl in Vermont. Series promoter Nate Furman is excited to showcase the Outlaw Midgets and hopes to create some new fans at Fonda, while also attracting local drivers to join the series and build a strong affordable division in open wheel racing.
“A lot of people look at these cars as small and under powered. Definitely not. Any of the tracks around that are around 1/4 mile we are much faster than any other car out there. We only weigh between 950 and 1125 based on what motor you are running. Last yr we were we clocked a whole 3 seconds faster than the mods at Glen Ridge doing around 110 average speed.”
Nate is working very hard to get his series noticed, and to provide his drivers and the fans in the stands a quality experience every night they hit the track. Lucas Oil and PWRi have been a great sanctioning body to race under, promoting and supporting the series every week.
“The reason I took over was that I saw a great opportunity for improvement in the series and then grabbed the series by the reigns and pretty much said hang on here we go. I have put all my efforts into this series for the last 8 months. We have come a long way from what it was. My goals for the series is to attract not only local drivers but all current midget drivers within the northeast to the series. I want to see 20 plus cars at the tracks”
Nate and the series encourage anybody with questions and interest in the series to stop by and talk to him or any of the drivers while they are at Fonda on Saturday as well as reaching out on their facebook page : facebook.com @outlawmidgetseries, as well as their website : outlawmidgetseries.com.
The Outlaw Midget Series races next on June 9th at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in Fultonville, NY.
