King Of Crates Opener Highlights This Weekend At Merrittville

“CAA Niagara Members and all our race fans will enjoy the final event of May for sure,” said (Merrittville’s) Don Spiece, “our 5 Division Show will feature not only the opening round of the Sportsman King of the Crates Series in addition to double features for the Hoosier Stocks and Mod Lites.”

Even though CAA Niagara Members that bring a donation will be eligible to win a $100 Gift Card via a draw – Race Fans and Race Teams alike are encouraged to bring donations of gently used clothing and household items as it’s also ‘Fill the Truck’ Night in support of Goodwill Niagara.

Victory Lane in 2017 for the S&W Service Centre Sportsman Division has been shared by three drivers to date … Paul Gaboury, defending David Chevrolet King of the Crates Sportsman Series Champion Cody McPherson and most recently Brad Rouse.

In the overall standings, Rouse leads McPherson by 6 points.

James Friesen sits in third ahead of a three way tie for 4th spot between Brent Begolo, Luke Carleton and Justin Sharp.

“Our David Chevrolet King of the Crates Series challenges our Sportsman drivers over three events,” added Spiece, “through the years it has provided some great racing … it wasn’t too long ago that Cody McPherson took the Mini-Series Title by a single point!”

With 2 Features scheduled for the Hoosier Stocks due to the Impact Promotions rain out after qualifying was complete back on May 13th – one driver has won the 2 Feature Events in the books – defending champion Dave Bailey.

Bailey leads Billy Bleich Jr, Kyle Pelrine, James Thompson and Rob Murray in the overall point standings.

For the Wood Motor Company Mod Lites, 3 events have had 2 teammates visit Victory Lane. Point leader Brent Begolo has 2 wins while defending champion Josh Sliter has one.

CAA Niagara Nite will also feature the Pinty’s Delicious Foods 358 Modifieds and the Central Fabricating & Welding 4 Cylinder Divisions.
