Impact Promotions Night At Merrittville Features Triple Crown Series Opener
Story By: JIM IRVINE / MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY – THOROLD, ONT – Merrittville Speedway’s 2017 Season will get back on track Saturday May 13th when Impact Promotions presents a Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series Event that features the Opening Round of the Tomaski Racing 4 Cylinder Triple Crown Series … a Kart Display and Demonstration Event and the rain-delayed Kid’s Club Registration Night.
“Impact Promotions’ business is to promote YOUR business,” said (|Merrittville Speedway owner) Don Spiece, “after last week’s rain out … Saturday the 13th is shaping up to be a great night to promote our 4 Cylinders … our Tuesday Night Kart Racing and our Kid’s Club … we can’t thank Kyle Tomaski enough for his support of two of our Mini-Series and all he does for the sport.”
Merrittville Speedway’s Central Fabricating and Welding 4 Cylinder Division traditionally provides some of the most entertaining racing every year. In the overall points and in the Tomaski Racing Triple Crown Series last season it couldn’t have been any closer.
Tyler Lafantaisie would edge his car owner Kyle Rothwell by just 9 points for his first Championship in 2016 but the tables would be turned in the Triple Crown Series with Rothwell out front by a lesser margin – just 3 points.
The Tomaski Racing Triple Crown Series is a three race Mini-series for the 4 Cylinders with Round 2 set for Saturday June 10th’s Archer Truck Service Night. The 2017 Edition will wrap up Saturday July 29th as part of W Abrasives Night.
Also on the schedule May 13th are the Pinty’s Delicious Foods 358 Modifieds, S&W Service Centre Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks and the Wood Motor Company Modified Lites.
Tomaski Racing is home to the 54T 4 Cylinder Truck of Kyle Tomaski that Merrittville Fans will get to see in action when the Eataly Foods Triple Truck Challenge Series by Toimaski Racing kicks off for the new season on Zavitz Financial Strategies Night Monday May 22nd.
“The idea actually came to me at last year’s (Merrittville) Awards Banquet,” said Tomaski, 24 of Welland, “each division and Mini-Series had some great sponsorship support except for the Triple Crown … I knew then that I would take a look at becoming the Title Sponsor.”
Tomaski’s Truck will be on display Saturday May 13th ahead of the Truck Series launch the following week end.
Also on display Saturday Night when the gates open at 5:30 will be many of the Tuesday Night Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Karting Series Racers before some Demonstration Races at intermission.
“When you look through the pit area on a Saturday Night or special event you see so many drivers that got their starts in Kart Racing,” said new Kart Race Director Joey Mastroianni whose Sportsman and Mod Lite careers came from a start in Kart Racing, “this year drivers including Alex Riley, Kourtney Kocarik, Vincent Pagnotta, Tom Neale and Austyn Werstroh – all former karters will be joined by 2017 Rookie Daniel McKay, also a former kart racer. When you look at the Mod Lite Division – rookies Randy Giroux and Tucker Wood are former karters as was last year’s Novice Sportsman Champ Trevor Wright.”
Saturday May 13th will be Kid’s Club Registration Night with anyone 12 years old or younger eligible to join for just $20 which includes the Child’s Admission all season.
