Five Mile Point Teams With Broome Co. Humane Society Saturday

Story By: ANDREW HARPEL / FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY – KIRKWOOD, NY – Five Mile Point Speedway will be celebrating 67 consecutive years of racing this Saturday night with the annual “Pack the Track Night” at the quarter mile oval. We are turning back the clock as grandstand admission is only 67 cents on this evening. Five Mile Point Speedway has also teamed up with the Broome County Humane Society to help their efforts. Racing begins at 6 p.m. this Saturday night.

The annual “Pack the Track” Night is always a fan favorite as the admission prices are rolled back. This year the 67 cents admission price is to recognize the 67 consecutive years of racing at Five Mile Point Speedway. The speedway is historically one of the oldest consecutively operated tracks in the United States.

Fans can actually get in free this Saturday night if they simply bring a pet food item to the ticket booth upon entry. We have teamed up with the Broome County Humane Society and in an effort to help them collect pet food for their shelter we will waive the admission price to help their efforts. Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. this Saturday night.

During the week we will also be asking drivers to share photos of their pet with their race car and themselves to bring awareness to our fund raising efforts. It will certainly be a great night of racing and yet another effort by the speedway staff to benefit a local organization.

On the track the Crate Sportsman will headline the racing action on the quarter mile oval. Thus far in 2017 there have been five different feature winners in five races in the Sportsman class and this past Saturday their feature ran off in less than ten minutes as the entire race went caution free.

The always exciting Street Stocks will be joined by the Lightning Cat Experts and Novice as well as the Factory Stocks and Slingshots. Racing will begin at 6 p.m.

Help us in our efforts this Saturday to benefit the Broome County Humane Society by bringing your pet food item to the races. We will be collecting at the main entrance in to the speedway and throughout the evening if people just want to stop by to donate to a great project. The Broome County Humane Society can be found online at www.bchumanesoc.com or by phoning them at 607-724-3709.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. on Saturday with grandstand gates set to open at 4 p.m. Practice is slated for 5 p.m. with the first qualifying event scheduled to hit the track at 6 p.m.
