Marks Charges To Top 10 With Outlaws In California
Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRENT MARKS RACING – STOCKTON, CA – Despite a disappointing qualifying effort, recording the 30th fastest time out of 39 entries, World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year contender Brent Marks bounced back and made the most of his visit to the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, California, on Saturday, March 25; recovering for an A-main starting position, ultimately rallying from 22nd to finish inside the top-ten.
“It was a great recovery for our team. I’m proud of everyone,” Brent Marks explained. “Unfortunately, a bad qualifying time put us in a hole right from the start. Besides that, we kept working and kept our heads up. We all understand what we are up against, and we all know we’re going to have a tough time qualifying at tracks we’ve never seen before, but that doesn’t keep us from staying motivated. This top-ten was huge. We’re pumped to race again on Wednesday in Placerville.”
After qualifying time trials, Brent Marks, pilot of Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19, went on to finish sixth during heat race competition, sending the “Myerstown Missile” to the Last Chance Showdown. Marks would go on to finish second during the 12-lap Last Chance Showdown, setting up his impressive 13-position rally to finish ninth during the main event; his second top-ten finish during World of Outlaws competition in 2017.
Brent Marks will continue his 2017 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series rookie campaign on Wednesday evening, March 29, at the Placerville Speedway in Placerville, California. The Myerstown, Pennsylvania, native will enter the mid-week program currently 12th in the World of Outlaws championship point chase, as well as second in the Rookie of the Year standings.
Following his Placerville start on Wednesday evening, Marks will move ahead and visit Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, California, on Friday, March 31, followed by a trip to the Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California, on Saturday, April 1. Marks’ upcoming Perris start for the SoCal Showdown will be his last California appearance until Friday, September 8, when the Greatest Show On Dirt returns to Chico.
“We’ve been having a lot of fun out here in California,” Brent Marks said. “Our plan is to keep this top-ten momentum alive and finish out our West Coast Swing on a strong note. My team is the hardest working team out here. I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished. Hopefully I can keep doing my job and get these guys more solid finishes.”
