Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – Camden Proud will step in as Oswego Speedway’s public relations and social media coordinator beginning with the Speedway’s open test session to be held on Saturday, May 6.

A three year veteran of the Pathfinder Bank SBS division at the Speedway, Proud is an accomplished writer and announcer having covered motorsports events and stories throughout the east coast for both print and online publication.

Maintaining the Speedway’s web and social media content, Proud will also continue as the driver of the Proud Motorsports No. 54 on Saturday evenings.

“Oswego Speedway is my biggest passion,” said Proud. “I started sitting in the grandstands at age 2 and have been hooked ever since, so to now have the opportunity to be involved there in the capacity that I am not only as a driver, but now in the public relations department, is a dream come true for me. Our fans here are the best in the country and I am very fortunate to have such a great place in my backyard.”

Proud, who will graduate from Oswego High School in June, replaces Dan Kapuscinski who stepped away from the Speedway full-time in January to pursue a new career.

“Despite his young age, Camden has been around the Speedway for a lot of years and has a tremendous knowledge of the facility and sport,” said Kapuscinski, who is now the School Information Officer for the Skaneateles Central School District. “I look forward to helping Camden make the transition through the spring and can’t wait to keep up to date on Oswego Speedway happenings online.”

With less than two months until the first green flag of the season, Proud is ready.

“I cannot wait to get started in May and hope to continue to raise the bar Dan Kapuscinski has set so high during his time as Public Relations Director,” said Proud. “I’d like to extend a huge thanks to the Torrese family and the entire staff at the speedway for this tremendous opportunity as well as to Dan for all of his help in this process. I’m looking forward to working with everyone for a fantastic summer both on and off the track.”

Following the Speedway’s open practice on May 6 the facility will open for its 67th consecutive season of racing on Saturday, May 13 with the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Richie Evans Memorial all on the card.
