Story By: SHAWN MILLER / BIG GAME MOTORSPORTS – LAS VEGAS, NV – Big Game Motorsports pilot Kerry Madsen extended his top-10 streak at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas to five consecutive years thanks to a pair of top 10s last weekend during the FVP Outlaw Showdown.

Madsen and the Muddy sponsored team opened the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader on Thursday by qualifying seventh quickest in their group. Madsen then finished where he started – fourth – in a heat race to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event.

“We got good restarts and had a good car and went forward,” he said. “The track wasn’t super wide to do a lot of passing so I was really happy with that. The track was pretty treacherous so to come out in one piece was good in itself.”

Madsen maneuvered from 14th to an eighth-place result, which marked the third straight season with that exact finish.

The event concluded on Friday when Madsen set quick time in his group during qualifying. He then won a heat race to lock into the dash, in which he picked up a position to place fifth.

“In the main event we were a little off and you’re not going to win World of Outlaws races when you’re a little off,” he said. “We lost some ground on restarts rather than gain any. We came up on cars to pass them and in my attempts to pass it seemed like I’d give away a spot.”

Madsen ended the night with a ninth-place finish.

“We made some progress in qualifying from Thursday to Friday,” he said. “We’re making all the right progress. I’d say we were really quick all weekend, but just didn’t quite get the results we were aiming for.”
