Story By: STEVEN OVENS / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Crate Late Models have a new home for the 2017 season on the third-mile bullring at Woodhull Raceway. It will be the first season that the growing division will compete full-time at Woodhull, and Close Racing Supply has signed on to present Opening Night action with a $1,000-to-win event for the division’s debut.

Located in Eldred, Pennsylvania, Close Racing Supply has been in business since 1996 supplying quality circle track components at competitive prices. CRS has a large inventory of parts for IMCA/UMP modifieds, Late Models, and Stock Clip Cars. They ship parts and components via UPS daily and accepts most major credit cards.

“CRS is a big supporter of crate late model racing and is proud to help Woodhull usher in a new era,” said CRS owner Joel Smith. “We have a lot of former BRP 360 Late Model customers who are now driving crate late models and have made successful transitions.”

With Woodhull opening up on Saturday April 15th, with many other area tracks not yet in competition, a large field of Crate Late Models is expected for the 2017 lid-lifter. Woodhull’s Crate Late Model division will not be RUSH Sanctioned, however will follow the RUSH rulebook for 2017.

“Making the change in 2017 was a big step for us and we are thankful to have the support from great people like Joel and his staff at Close Racing Supply to help us usher in a new era,” said Woodhull Raceway owner and promoter Ted White. “This will make for two big weeks of racing in a row for us before many of the area speedways kick off for the year.”

In addition to the $1,000-to-win Crate Late Model race on April 15th, week number two will see the Crate Sportsman drivers race for $1,000-to-win on Saturday April 22nd. The 370 Modified division will kick off on April 29th.

The remainder of the 2017 season schedule is nearing completion and will be released in the coming weeks. Woodhull Raceway will now look toward St. Patrick’s Day Weekend as that is when the racers of “New York’s Toughest Bullring” will take over the Arnot Mall for the annual car show sponsored once again by Swarthout Recycling.
