Hearn gets career win #800 at Fonda!

FONDA, N.Y. — Sweeping both dirt track Modified races at historic Fonda (New York) Speedway on Wednesday evening, August 10, Brett Hearn, of Sussex, New Jersey, reached a career milestone, winning his 800th feature event race. Hearn’s total victories, garnered over a 37-year racing career, place him among the all-time winners in any form of American motorsports.

At Fonda, Hearn first won a holdover 30-lap feature race passing Alton Palmer on the final lap. He followed that victory by then winning the 60-lap “Thunder on the Thruway” evening finale, this time out running Matt DeLorenzo. Hearn won a total of $9,000 for his two victories.

The wins were Hearn’s tenth and eleventh of the 2011 season. His 800-win career record includes 471 Big-Block Modified victories, 327 in Small-Block Modified competition, and two United Racing Company (URC) sprint Car wins. A master of extra-distance races, Hearn has posted 330 (41 percent of all his wins) in races of 50 laps or longer.

“The past couple weeks, we’ve been running well, but just couldn’t seal the deal,” said Hearn just prior to his triumphant evening. “I kinda know what (Derek) Jeter went through getting his 3,000th hit.”

During the ten-month Northeast dirt track racing season, Hearn drives his familiar No. 20 big- and small-block Modifieds fielded by the merged Madsen Motorsports/B.H. Racing Enterprises, Inc. team, which, for the sixth consecutive year carries Wentworth Custom Homes of Oneida, New York as the primary sponsor.

Additional support for the No. 20 Modifieds comes from Madsen Overhead Doors, Benjamin Moore Paints, Ultrablend, Foxhill Campground, Don Kruger Motorsports LLC, WLR Construction, 417 Bus Line Ltd, Accurate Collision, and Fairways of Halfmoon. As in past seasons, Hearn will rely on Teo Pro Car chassis and Enders Racing Engines. Nearly two-dozen product associates round out Hearn’s on-going quest for Modified racing supremacy.
