IndyCar Themed 'STEM' Initiative Program Set To Begin This Year

INDIANAPOLIS, IN- May 24, 2013- Applying lessons from the classroom and taking them to the racetrack will be the focus of “The Future of Fast,” an INDYCAR-themed STEM education program beginning in 2013.
INDYCAR hopes to interest future engineers, mechanics and race fans by igniting their passion for math and science through the educational aspects of the sport. INDYCAR has formed a partnership for this initiative with Project Lead The Way, the nation’s leading provider of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum, and Jostens, a top provider of products, programs and services for schools.

ELBRIDGE, NY- May 23, 2013- In less than two weeks, the points chase for the Super DIRTcar Series championship title begins with the DIRTcar Hall of Fame 60 race at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park. Set for Wednesday, June 5, the first points event of the season for the Big-Block Modified tour may serve as a litmus test for the rest of the series. "Rolling Wheels will probably be a good pH to see which cars are going to be fast and which guys are going to be in the championship hunt this year," said Matt Sheppard, who won the last three annual Hall of Fame events at Rolling Wheels as well as the last three Super DIRTcar Series titles. "As long as we come of there with a good run and start the series off the right way I think we'll be in good shape."

All the stars and cars from the Lucas Oil backed tour will be out in force at two of ESS’ faithful speedways. On Saturday it will be the annual Earl Halaquist Memorial which will pay the winner $2,000. The Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee was from nearby Sydney, NY and Fonda is perfect place to carry on the legacy.
