CENTER LISLE, NY- April 14, 2014- It’s been a long road – and the destination has not yet been reached – but the resurgent season for Thunder Mountain Speedway is set to kick off on Saturday (April 19) with the first on-track activity of the 2014 season.

“We’ll be working on it right up to the time we open the gates for the first race of the season,” Thunder Mountain’s returning owner Karl Spoonhower, who reacquired the facility he built in the early 1990s after a seven-year absence from the sport last fall, said.

SELINSGROVE, PA- April 14, 2014- TJ Stutts of Liverpool held off numerous challenges to score the 30-lap Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint (ESS) season opener for 360 sprint cars sponsored by Mach 1 Chassis Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway.

Stutts, who has won three of the last four ESS-sanctioned races at Selinsgrove, collected $3,000 for his 18th career victory at the track in 358-360 sprint car competition driving the Mountain View Travel/Mach 1 Chassis No. 23.

On Sunday night at the Five Mile Point Speedway, the word dominance does little to describe the performance shown by Matt Sheppard behind the wheel of the Norm Hansell owned No. 357 Troyer as the Waterloo native walked away from the field en route to the victory leading all but five circuits in the process.

SUSQUEHANNA, PA- April 14, 2014- The harsh spring weather has taken its toll on many area race tracks and Penn Can Speedway can be added to the list. Work crews have been feverishly working on the wall reconstruction project but have faced setbacks with unexpected snow and  rain in the forecast. The entire facility is still saturated and without a promising forecast for the next several days, speedway officials have decided to move the schedule back one week.

WEST LEBANON, NY- April 13, 2014- A gorgeous afternoon in mid-April was just what the Doctor ordered at the legendary high banks of Lebanon Valley Speedway.

The 62nd Season opener packed the stands full of fans for a battle in all classes with Donnie Corellis taking home the Big Block Modified win, and Robbie Speed scored the win in the closing laps of the Pro Stock Opener.

This early in the season, dirt tracks biggest challenge is weather.  For a season opener after such a harsh winter, the ½ mile dirt oval alongside NYS Route 20 in West Lebanon was the best it could be for this time of year.

With the new management of DeLorenzo Motorsports taking over the reins at Fonda, Saturday evening started a new chapter at the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway and it was Matt Sheppard who made a fantastic move on a green/white flag restart with one lap to go to take an exciting win over Fonda Speedway regular Danny Varin.

“That was a lot of fun,” Sheppard told Toby LaGrange after the victory. “What a last lap that was.”
